American Jarrell Miller won the WBA eliminator.
Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk now has an official challenger for the WBA heavyweight title. That challenger is American Jarrell Miller.
Miller defeated Cuban Lenier Perro in the WBA championship eliminator. The judges unanimously awarded the victory to the American with scores of 117-111, 117-111, and 115-113. By the end of the fight, Miller had landed over 1,000 punches on his opponent, setting a new record for the heavyweight division.
After the fight, the winner stated that he had expected a tough battle but wanted to test his physical condition rather than go for a knockout.
Following his victory, Miller also issued a challenge to former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder. Meanwhile, Usyk is preparing for a bout against kickboxer Rico Verhoeven, scheduled for May 23 in Egypt.
