Ukraine is taking another step towards digitalization and transparency in the gambling industry. Licenses for companies operating in the gaming sector can now be obtained online through the Diia app.
This was announced by Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov. The launch of the service in Diia is planned soon, but no exact date has been provided.
According to him, the government has already approved the corresponding decree, allowing applications for gambling licenses to be submitted digitally.
This involves a complete transition away from paper procedures and in-person visits to the state agency "PlayCity." Companies will be able to submit applications remotely, and license decisions will be delivered directly through Diia.
In the first stage, decisions on license issuance will still be made by "PlayCity." However, according to Fedorov, the next step will be full automation of the process, where the system independently makes decisions based on clearly defined criteria without official involvement.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasizes that digitalizing licensing will increase market transparency, reduce corruption risks, and create more convenient conditions for legal businesses. It is also expected to positively impact state budget revenues.
