Steam continues to expand its audience and strengthen its position as the largest digital platform for PC gaming. According to analysts' estimates, the service may now have nearly 200 million monthly active users, potentially surpassing the PlayStation ecosystem.
Valve has not disclosed official Steam user statistics for a long time, forcing analysts to rely on publicly available data and indirect indicators. According to GameDiscoverCo analyst Simon Carless, the platform had approximately 198 million monthly active users in the second half of 2025.
For comparison, Sony's latest official figures reported 125 million active users across the PlayStation ecosystem. If the Steam estimates are accurate, Valve's platform has already surpassed its main competitor's audience by more than 50%.
Although these figures remain unofficial, they are indirectly supported by several other indicators. Steam recently set a new record by surpassing 41 million concurrent online users, while the PC gaming market continues to grow more steadily than the console segment.
Analysts note that under these circumstances, Steam has long since evolved beyond being simply the largest digital game store for PC. The platform has effectively become one of the world's largest gaming ecosystems, with its audience continuing to grow even without official statistics from Valve.
