Tottenham have officially announced the signing of Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, completing the most expensive transfer in the club's history.
According to British media reports, the deal was worth €117 million, setting a new transfer record for Spurs. It was previously reported that the 26-year-old midfielder signed a contract until the summer of 2032, while his annual salary will be around €12 million, making him the highest-paid player in the squad.
After the transfer was officially completed, Tonali shared his emotions about beginning a new chapter in his career.
“I am very happy to be here. When I arrived at the club today, I immediately felt a special atmosphere. We spent almost two hours talking with the head coach about the team, the supporters, the stadium, and our vision of football. After that conversation, I knew for certain that I wanted to play for Tottenham. I have played against this team several times before and have always been impressed by the support of its fans. I can't wait for the start of the new season,” the Italian said.
During the 2025/26 season, Tonali made 53 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions, scoring three goals and establishing himself as one of the team's key players.
