Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic advanced to the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2026 after defeating Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime in the longest quarter-final match in the tournament's history.
The match lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes and ended with the 39-year-old Serbian winning in five sets. It became the longest Wimbledon quarter-final on record, with the players finishing just six minutes before the tournament's traditional 11:00 p.m. local curfew.
Djokovic required a medical timeout for a leg issue in the opening set but still managed to edge the tiebreak. Auger-Aliassime responded by taking the second set and later recovered a break deficit in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set.
The place in the semi-finals was decided in a super tiebreak, where Djokovic recovered from a 4-6 deficit by winning four consecutive points to seal victory in one of the most spectacular matches of the tournament.

After the match, Djokovic could not hide his emotions, describing the contest as one of the finest matches of his career at the All England Club.
In the semi-finals, Djokovic will face world No. 1 and defending Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner.
Last year, the Italian defeated the Serbian in the Wimbledon semi-finals, but Djokovic had previously beaten Sinner twice at the grass-court major — in the 2022 quarter-finals and the 2023 semi-finals. Overall, Sinner currently leads their head-to-head series 6-5.
