The 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match between Norway and Brazil became the biggest event in the history of the state-owned bookmaker Norsk Tipping.
According to the company, around 350,000 customers placed bets on the match, setting a new all-time record for the operator. The previous record had also been established during the current World Cup, when the group-stage match between Norway and France attracted approximately 250,000 bettors.
In addition to the record number of participants, the Norway vs Brazil match also became the most successful in terms of total betting turnover. Norsk Tipping did not disclose the exact financial figures but noted that a significant share of customers backed Norway to win before kick-off.
Norway's historic victory over the five-time world champions sparked unprecedented excitement among supporters. Since the start of the World Cup, around 600,000 users have placed bets on tournament matches through the Norsk Tipping platform, confirming the record level of interest among Norwegians in their national team's World Cup campaign.
