Streaming service Netflix has announced an extension of its partnership with production company Goalhanger, which produces the popular football show The Rest Is Football. The new agreement covers two English Premier League seasons and will remain in effect until the conclusion of UEFA Euro 2028, which will be hosted by the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Following its successful debut during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the show will return to the platform in August ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. New episodes will be released twice a week, every Monday and Friday, covering the biggest stories from English and world football.
During the World Cup, the show became one of Netflix's most popular sports productions. Over 40 days, the hosts recorded a series of daily episodes from New York, and the program regularly appeared in the Netflix Daily Top 10 TV rankings in the United Kingdom.
The show will continue to be hosted by English football legends Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards. The television version will continue to complement the podcast of the same name, which attracts more than seven million monthly listens.
“We had an incredible time producing the show during the World Cup, and the audience response exceeded all our expectations. It's great to be returning to Netflix for the new Premier League season. The podcast will continue throughout the week, while the television format gives us even more opportunities to discuss the biggest stories in football,” Gary Lineker commented.
Goalhanger co-founder Tony Pastor said the show's success is built on the natural chemistry between the three hosts, while the partnership with Netflix has allowed it to preserve its defining qualities — authenticity, humor, and the relaxed atmosphere of football discussion.
