Ukrainian esports organization NAVI climbed to first place in the Esports World Cup 2026 club standings. The team was propelled to the top by Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves player Luis Guadalupe "DarkAngel" Castillo Gomez, who captured the tournament title.
In the grand final, the NAVI representative convincingly defeated Virtus.pro player mi2ha4 by a score of 5:1 to claim the championship. Along with the title, DarkAngel earned $250,000 in prize money and secured 1,000 club points for NAVI, allowing the organization to take the overall lead in the Esports World Cup standings.
In addition to the gold medal, DarkAngel also secured a place at the SNK World Championship 2026 Finals for Fatal Fury. The world finals, featuring a $2.5 million prize pool, will take place in Stockholm from November 27 to 29.
The road to the championship was far from easy for the NAVI player. During the group stage, he lost 2:3 to Vxbao in the upper bracket final and was forced to continue his campaign through the lower bracket. There, DarkAngel dominated both Pida and mok with identical 3:0 victories before completing his title-winning run in the playoffs.
The success in Fatal Fury became an unexpected source of NAVI's first major club points at the Esports World Cup 2026. Thanks to this victory, the Ukrainian organization moved to the top of the overall multi-title championship standings at the very beginning of the tournament.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is the latest fighting game from Japanese developer SNK, released in 2025. The game continues the iconic Fatal Fury series, which returned after a break of more than 25 years. The title combines the franchise's classic two-dimensional combat system with modern graphics and new REV mechanics, and in 2026 it made its debut at the Esports World Cup, quickly becoming one of the key competitive titles in the SNK esports scene.
