Kraken may enter prediction markets in 2026, according to global consumer lead Mark Greenberg in an interview with CNBC.
He noted that prediction markets performed strongly in 2025 and could accelerate growth in 2026 despite increasing regulatory pressure. Greenberg confirmed that Kraken is exploring launching its own product and views the segment as a long-term direction.
He highlighted that prediction markets can link real-world events with financial assets and open new trading strategies, such as contracts dependent on specific occurrences.
These comments followed Kraken's $100 million acquisition of the Small Exchange platform from IG Group, a deal the market sees as a step toward obtaining a U.S. license for event-based contracts. The company has not disclosed specific details of the future model or potential partnerships.
