Goal has published an updated ranking of the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d'Or following the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup. Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane remains at the top of the list.

The 32-year-old forward helped England secure the bronze medals, scoring six goals and providing one assist, allowing him to retain his status as the leading favorite for football's most prestigious individual award.

The biggest rise in the rankings came from Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal. After winning the FIFA World Cup, the 19-year-old climbed from seventh to second place. Yamal scored one goal during the tournament and was one of the key players in Luis de la Fuente's squad.

Lionel Messi retained third place after leading Argentina to the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, where the team finished as runners-up.

Following Spain's successful campaign, two more Spanish players entered the top ten for the first time. Midfielder Rodri debuted in sixth place, while defender Pau Cubarsí completed the top ten.

Meanwhile, several French stars dropped in the rankings. Michael Olise, Kylian Mbappé, and the reigning Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé all slipped after France finished fourth at the FIFA World Cup.
