One of the best basketball players of the modern era, two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has changed clubs. The Greek forward will continue his career with the Miami Heat.
The blockbuster trade was reported by The Associated Press. Along with Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis will move to Florida. In return, the Milwaukee Bucks will receive Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakučionis, and a significant package of draft picks.
What is known about Antetokounmpo:
The 31-year-old Giannis spent his entire professional career with Milwaukee after being selected in the 2013 NBA Draft.
He has been named NBA MVP twice, earned nine All-NBA selections, and made ten All-Star Game appearances.
In 2021, he led the Bucks to an NBA championship.
Last season, despite injuries, he averaged 27.6 points per game.
For his career, he has averaged 24.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
For Miami, this is another major acquisition in the tradition of the eras of Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade. The club hopes that the arrival of a superstar will help it return to contention for an NBA championship.
