The Formula 1 British Grand Prix took place at Silverstone, where Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc claimed victory. For the Monegasque, it was his first win of the 2026 season and also Ferrari’s first victory of the year.
Mercedes driver George Russell finished second, while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who also races for Ferrari, completed the podium in third place.
One of the main contenders for victory was young Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli. In the closing stages of the race, the Italian was rapidly closing the gap to Leclerc and preparing to challenge for the lead, but a technical issue ended his chances.
Antonelli was forced to pit because of a suspension failure. The team was unable to fix the problem, leaving one of the race favourites to finish only 16th. The battle for the podium also ended dramatically. Near the end of the race, reigning world champion Max Verstappen made a mistake, ran off the track, and became stuck in the gravel, dropping out of contention for the podium places.
As a result, Ferrari secured its long-awaited first victory of the season, while Leclerc ended the team's disappointing run by triumphing at the legendary Silverstone circuit.
